Hill People’s Comedy Fest
& The Belvedere Inn Host Virtual Stand-Up Comedy Class Led by Mia Jackson

If you’ve been wondering what it takes to get onstage and make an audience laugh- look no further! Learn the theories, techniques, and principles that professional comics use to create solid stand-up comedy material. Students will practice their craft in a five-part series of virtual classes led by nationally touring comedian Mia Jackson. Students get the opportunity to take the mic and perform their polished stand-up routines in front of a live audience on Thursday, June 19 at the Belvedere Inn as part of the 5th Annual Hill People’s Comedy Fest. The “Local Voices” night will be hosted and headlined by Mia Jackson herself!

Dates: This comedy class will meet over Zoom starting Sunday, May 4. Classes will continue for five sessions on Sundays from 4-5:30pm (skipping Mother’s Day and Memorial Day weekend):

REGISTRATION

Complete the Zeffy form and payment instructions will be emailed to you. Once payment is received, you will be officially registered for the workshop. Space is limited to 10 participants, sign-up quick!

About Mia Jackson

Mia Jackson a native of Columbus, GA started her stand up career in Atlanta. Now living in New York, Mia performs regularly at The Comedy Cellar when not on the road. In 2022, she was one of the openers for Amy Schumer’s tour. 

She has written for Life & Beth (Hulu) and I Love Us (BET+). Her first original comedy pilot, Aim Higher, sold to Warner Brothers in 2021. A true multi-hyphenate, Mia’s delightful Georgia accent landed her a voiceover role as the narrator for My Celebrity Dream Wedding (VH1). Her second half hour special premiered on Comedy Central in Nov 2019 and her stand up has been featured on This Week at The Comedy Cellar (Comedy Central). Mia is smart, funny, relatable and versatile. Her endearing comedy and bright attitude entertains all types of crowds. 

Mia’s additional credits include: PAUSE with Sam Jay (HBO Max), Inside Amy Schumer (Comedy Central, Paramount+), Expecting Amy (HBO Max), This Is Stand Up (Comedy Central), Southin’ Off (Facebook Watch), Unprotected Sets (MGM+), Flop House (Viceland), Last Comic Standing (NBC), Soul Train Awards (BET) and Just For Laughs (New Faces 2017).
